The Ten Lesser Titans — Deep dive
Growth — life's drive to proliferate.
Of the Ten Lesser Titans, Growth has the strongest implicit worship base — the Verdant Circle's entire framework is built around the Growth-Decay cycle. The Arcane Assembly studies Growth as the mechanism behind cultivation breakthroughs themselves. Whichever framing is correct, the influence continues: crops still come in, disciples still break through, populations still expand. Whatever Growth is, it is still working.

- Nurturing, ambitious, ever-expanding
- Influence
- All growth — crops, forests, muscle, power, even essence cultivation itself
- Manifestation
- Sudden growth spurts, cultivation breakthroughs, abundant harvests
- Element pairing
- Water (per Ascension Theory — life's drive to proliferate)
- Paired Lesser Titan

Origin theories
Ascension Theory (favoured)
A mortal Diamond-rank cultivator ascended through Water-essence mastery — specifically through the proliferation aspect rather than the flow aspect. The ascension pathway is the same one Verdant Circle druids quietly hope to repeat.
Fragment Theory
A piece of Sylvara's consciousness split off during the Sealing and bound itself to the principle of growth. Compatible with the Water pairing; the strongest version of this theory specifies that Growth split from Sylvara's unfinished life-creation essence.
Primordial Theory
Growth predated the Great Five. Life proliferates whether or not anyone is conscious of it; the Lesser Titan is just life looking at itself. Held by a Verdant Circle wing.
Pair partner — Decay
Growth and Decay form the cosmology's most explicitly cyclical pair. The Verdant Circle's seasonal ritual calendar is built around them — spring and autumn equinoxes honour Growth and Decay respectively, and the summer and winter solstices honour the held states between.
Cultivation pathways for Growth almost always touch Decay eventually. The Circle teaches both as one subject; the Assembly tends to teach them separately and considers the Circle's integrated approach methodologically loose.
Modern signs (Year 8,955)
- Growth continues to function. Crops, populations, and cultivation breakthroughs all proceed at expected rates.
- The Verdant Circle's healing arts function as advertised. Whether Growth is the source or the medium is debated within the Circle itself.
- Cultivation breakthrough rates have not changed measurably in two thousand years — the same fraction of disciples reach each new rank as before the True Silence.
- Verdant Circle druids have observed accelerated growth in certain sacred groves over the last two centuries. Whether this is Growth stirring or merely improved druidic technique remains contested.
Modern theology
Verdant Circle — Living Cycle
Growth and Decay together describe the cycle the Circle exists to protect. Growth is honoured rather than worshipped; rituals at the spring equinox specifically invoke it. The closest thing the Lesser Titans have to an active cult.
Arcane Assembly — Breakthrough Doctrine
Growth governs cultivation breakthroughs. Studying Growth is studying the mechanism by which mortals advance toward Diamond rank — and therefore the mechanism by which any future ascensions would occur.
Silent Materialism
Growth is what life does. The Lesser Titan framing is a cultural overlay on a natural phenomenon. Held by Republic agricultural scientists and quietly by some Verdant Circle modernists.
